Bootie Brown from seminal hip-hop group The Pharcyde dropped by FXpansion headquarters recently to talk about his new project as Frank Friction and share his thoughts on samplers and our next-generation sampling instrument, Geist!

In a constant quest to progress and hone his skills as a producer, Brown has collaborated with many artists, including J Dilla, Danger Mouse and Gorillaz in which he garnered international acclaim with the monster hit "Dirty Harry". This resulted in performing sold out shows for the "Escape To Plastic Beach" world tour and both Grammy and Brit Award nominations.

When not touring the world with The Pharcyde, Brown is in the studio producing and collaborating with artists such as: The Googlenaires, Jeff Wooton, Kurser and a host of others. His clothing label "Cymi Designs" will also be debuting to the public in the near future.

Channeling his alter ego "Frank Friction", Bootie Brown is expanding his creative, innovative and genre bending repertoire with the release of his forthcoming mix tape Birdtalk...
